▍Exhibition Concept

The inception of imagination from Zi-Jie’s projectduring residency is based on Bo-yang's Popeye historical event and the feelingsof absurdity arising from “misunderstanding" within this historicalcontext as history itself appears as a series of misunderstandings inripple-liked form with no absolute truth but subject to variousinterpretations.

By infusing humor into this "historicalevent," Zi-Jie aims to create contemporary thinking, leading to multiplelayers of interpretation and a ripple effect of "misreading" thehistory.

The multi-layered development of narratives involvesmany issues such as human rights and the transformation in between mediasthrough the act of cosplaying Popeye characters from the cartoons.

Under the mutual implies from the establishednarratives, the action of misreading initiating a relaxing and sensual artisticevent.

The symbolic relations ofthe fictional character; Popeye connects to different dimensions of time andspace, reflecting on the constant translation, interpretation and thestructural relationships tied to human rights.
