Kaohsiung is a harbor city. Stories and history here has always connected with water. This city is near the sea, but it is hard for us to see a singular sea with a horizon line, which is similar to our daily life that is always intermittent.

I was trying to find some trace of history here and put them in containers. However, it seems the sea was contained in the city already, fragmented and divided. To me, the meaning of sea represented how we perceive things in the postmodern society. Following the consuming loop we are in, we replace the old when we build new and so our society gets separated from its context and history. The city gets recycled inside conceptual aquariums, for the enjoyment of the public.

I tried to develop photographs with liquid, build models of the city with water in which everyone is swimming inside as fishes. This harbor city as a container, not only continues to make memories but also washes, banishes, forgets memories at the same time.
