About the artist: Chang Chih-Chung

Born in 1986 in Kaohsiung, Chang Chih-Chung received a MFA at National Taiwan Normal University and is currently based in Taipei.

Chang’s creativity centers on painting, writing, digital video and installation, outdoor and site-specific arts, etc. In his art, he is interweaving elements of fact and fiction, symbolism and metaphor, through alternating his roles as a recorder, interpreter, and narrator, thus managing to convey an echo of the allegorical motifs of reality beneath the current face of human civilization.

The themes of migration and journey reverberate through his artistic trajectory and life experiences, and his early works put emphasis on the human aspects of our civilization as gatherers. He recently started to explore the internal and external environmental factors in human society, and has begun to approach the interrelationship between humanity, civilization, and nature.
