Artist's Statement:

" Miniature of space" is the series of light boxespresenting drawing on layers of Washi paper under the affect of LED light. Eachof these boxes are the memories, imagination and nostalgic feeling based on myobservation of living space on my daily life here in Taiwan. Thesefragmentation of drawing came from my daily living whether it is a private roomin someone's home, the curry stand, the ice cream store, a tea shop, landscapeor sketchy brick wall of ware houses in Pier 2, or simply just an abstractionof decorative lines, they all came together like a puzzle of a miniature house.

First box : I am always interested in the roughness and sketchyquality of the brick walls, molding cements and oxidized iron in Pier 2architecture . Even in my studio, there is a bare brick wall that brings thecharm into the whole landscape of the space . In this box, i was building myown version of Pier 2 . 

Second box : On my trips to Taipei, I spent a long time in the Daan area where located all fancy tea shops. Since then, i have been interestedin tea culture here in Taiwan, it is not just about the tea, but the wholeliving environment with interior design, exquisite ceramic works, dynamic offorms in containers for tea. I am building this vertical box presenting my owntea shop. 

Third box : With buildings here in Pier 2, there is a sense ofattraction to all windows of shops, cafe and exhibition spaces. These windowsare the eye candy for wanting to know more what is inside. In this box, i amcreating my own room with a window, but it is a window to an imagination.
